| If
you plan to use the automatic
import folder feature of
Collection Creator consider the
Item Generator in the
process. The Item Generator
feature takes your content
structure and generates the
Cruiser Layout. It does this
by using the file names without
the extensions.
|
Lets
say you have a series of photos
taken with a digital camera that
you wish to create a collection
from. You have them in an
existing folder, so you simply
import the folder.
The files have cryptic names that
do not mean anything. |
 |
 |
Now
if you were to use the item
generator feature, you would get
items generated using each of the
files names without the .JPG extension.
In
order to make this a meaningful
collection, you would have to
rename each of the items to give
it an appropriate name. |
| This
is not a huge issue if you only
use the item generator feature
once. If you rename all of
the items and then decide to add
additional files to the
collection, you would want to use
the item generator feature to
recreate the items. By doing
this you will be back to square
one having to rename all of the
items again.
Before
you import the folder, rename each
of the files with a meaningful
name.
|
 |
 |
Now
when you use the item generator to
create the Cruiser Layout, your
items will already be named
appropriately. If you have
to add files later, you can use
the item generator to recreate the
Cruiser Layout without having to
go back and rename all of the
items. |
The
only side note to this process is
that if you are including support
files, such as graphics for use in
html files, the item generator
will generate items for the
support files. If you keep
all of your images in a separate
folder from your html files, it is
as simple as removing the images
folders from the Cruiser Layout
after the items have been
generated. |
